Raymond Loewy

Raymond Loewy

Today's Google  logo is a steam locomotive. I am curious when I see it, so I search about it. Google designs this is to commemorate Raymond Loewy. He was born on 5th November, 1893 in Paris, France and died on 14th July, 1986 in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He died of illness. Today is his 120th birthday. Here is the Google logo today.

He was the most famous industrial designer in 20th century. He was the pioneer who blended streamlined and European modernism and established the unique artistic language. His career was grand and colourful. The wide range of his designs included car, space station, stamps, lipsticks, company logo and more. In 1936, he designed S1 steam locomotive for Pennsylvania Railroad. He didn't use the countless rivets, he used welding technology to manufacture the head housing of locomotive. It simplified the maintenance process. Thus, the cost of production was reduced.

Let's see his works~~
